That's a very unusual bass...don't think I have seen another green one. Surprised it didn't go for more. Maybe the scratch and ding made people shy away? At least the guy was honest..

I think it's just luck of the timing. IIRC, I've seen about 1/2 a dozen 4004 auctions on the bay. Seems that they usually go for under a grand...although I remeber a practically new MB Laredo going for the BIN of $1350 recently.

Just stumps me, too, considering your typical frankensteined 4001 can sometimes incite a bidding frenzy.

I would not say that I'm especially daring to use it regularaly. That's why I bought it, so my 4001 wouldn't get all the abuse anymore. Image
