Thanks Dave, BTW, I mean pull the trigger on buying it, not on my head if I don't get it.

Menno B posted this today @ the Dude Pit,

"""hah, i saw someone copied it to the rick resource. I dont have a login there. this is what i wanted to post there:
Quote:
Yes i briefly visited the dudepit on ezboard, but I am not a frequent poster there, so i had to re-register for the new board

It is a '78 one according to seller. It is still there, I called him yesterday.

I havent seen it myself, but according to him, it was in decent condition and excellent playability. The usual dead spots on the g-string were not there on this one, according to him.

I owned a 4003 before, but reluctantly decided to sell it a few weeks ago. But I still love rickies, so I decided to give him a call and ask about it. One of the main reasons for selling it was: I needed the money. I simply can't afford this 4005. So please let some ric-o-phile get it instead of some collector who will never play it

I think you should be able to reach them by dialing +31 35 - 628 1904
Someone please copy to rick resource.""""

I keep checking back here hoping to hear any hour now that one of you well be getting this Bass,
Good Luck to all of you ,

Jaime

I had sent him an e-mail, not asking the price, just saying I would buy it and arrange for my own shipping. Have not heard back.

I called this morning when they first opened. He wanted a bank transfer direct into his account, and I imagine Graham did just that! I went for coffee! It's a 77 with no real issues at 1995 Euros/ $2375
If it had been a 60's version I'd have been real interested and in my old proactive mode would taken the 45 min flight to Amsterdam yesterday and been first in the Q when the shop opened, with the cash at 10 this morning.
Still, a very good buy Graham. You can still find these at reasonable prices. He has picked up two in Europe for less than $3500 this year.
You going to let that 60's 4005 project go now Graham...Image

Funny, he just e-mailed me saying he was taking offers and that if he did not get an offer he liked, that he would keep it for a while.

My offer was more than 1995 Euros but, if you landed it, Graham, congratulations!

Not quite sure what's going on here. To show my hand, I offered him 2400 Euros. He responded that the price was never 1900, but 2900 Euros. He did not mention if the bass was still available.

The person I have been dealing with's name is Edwin.

Interesting....He said to me that the price was 1995 euros and that he wasn't going to sell to the highest bidder. He had lots of e mails with lots of offers. He did say that he had seen these for $4000US.
I guess someone has made an offer he couldn't refuse...

Well I just spoke with him and he seems like a nice guy? But then again what do I know? He explained he's had a lot of emails and a lot of phone calls from all around the world. He seemed to be a little overwhelmed by the response. It wasn't sold when I just spoke with him. He is obviously going to take the highest bid and said for me to put in an offer via email and he would consider it. He's 20 minutes from Amsterdam and said he would sell to a nice guy, cash preferably. So it's a little awkward? If you can pick it up in person and pay cash and talk to him nicely I would imagine you could pick it up for around 2500 euros? But then again - who knows. I won't be going for this one, just trying to clarify the situation.

I think my offer of 2400 Euros and Fedex to pick it up at no expense to him was fair. I hate transactions like this. I never win.
