Flatwounds for a 60's 4001
I'm sure this question has been asked before, so apologies, but I'm looking for a good low tension set of flatties. I've got Pyramids on at the moment but they just don't work for me. The bass is a 65 so I'm primarily concerned about tension on the headstock - there's not a lot of maple behind the nut compared to later production. What's the general view on the right lo-ten string? Thanks folks.
enough, already.
Here's the site Phil. Lots of good info about string tension etc....

I second that!
Andrew, the Chromes you are talking about are nickle round wounds.

Buy it before someone else does.
I've used the Chromes on my Ricks too and they are nice strings. I have them on my Jazz Bass right now, and they work great. I may put them on my C64 when it comes. I'm thinking of putting them back on my V63 too.
I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again

" since 82? "
Actually I just got her a couple of months ago after wanting a Ric forever. .... and it is an 80 4001 rather than an 82. I did the cap bypass and put on TI flats and am getting the sounds that I was hoping for. The Ric has been getting a lot of use. Me likey a lot.
I have been surprised at the attention that the bass has been getting.
