Return of the prodigal son!

Post by tony_carey »

Today I just got back my burgundy 350V63. I bought it a while ago, but for some stupid reason, I sold it to a collector & regretted it ever since. I've been dropping hints to the owner that I wanted it back & today he caved in & swapped it for a 370. I am over the moon! I think it once belonged to John Williams & it is in brand new condition (not that it'll stay that way very long).

I like the 7'4's in the neck & mid position, but the bridge needs a serious boost to really do the business, so a hi-gain will go in tomorrow. It's not very often you get some thing back that you regret selling....I'm not going to make the same mistake twice.

Mind you, ALL my other gtrs are FG...so it does stick out a bit...maybe I need a JG or some thing else to go with it!

OK Brian. Sorry about the pants pic, but it's gone midnight here, so I'm reduced to flash. Gives the flavour though....

Two words (technically three): It's magnificent!

That's better. Hi-gain in the bridge, accent VB, straplock bolts & knobs adjusted so they point the way I like!

Briliant, Tony-- those knobs are pointed right toward Santa Ana!

Two toasters and a higain. Would you be able to get that ordered from the factory?

Excuse me, I just noticed those are all toasters. It just looks like a higain in the last picture.

The second photo is after my mods...the first is before.

John, I just don't know why I sold it in the first place. I REALLY wanted it back & am so happy now it's back with me. I have sold loads of Rics, but this one gnawed at me. It's back at a very good home & although I can't promise to keep it in the same condition as it is at the moment, this gtr has proved to be a keeper. It will be well used & well loved!

Here it is in anger....

& yet my 345 (330) still outdid it in the sound department!!! Never mind, at least it matched the curtains.

Seriously though, it sounded fantastic, but the extra roundness of my 345 won the day.
