Cool to see an NOS bass from 88. Always makes you wonder what is still hiding out there. Reminds me of the thread awhile back on VT where JWilli (I think) posted the prices when John Hall let a lot of NOS from the 60's go around 89/90....Talk about special...

As usual, Ken's leading by example these days...

Very famous in the Valve world, euphinism for "just found old stuff so it's going to be expensive"
"It's Red Jim, but not as we know it...."

Still going.

Ken, and I thought I was out of control. Image

However, you'll never see another like this one.

For some reason Rickenbacker,I think, made more V63's in Mapleglo than Fireglo. You rarely see the Fireglo models, while the Mapleglo ones pop up more frequently.
I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again

A bidding tip: Don't go with a huge bids early on---you could add hundreds to the final value by doing this. Some people who would have no intentions of spending a certain amount on something will often keep bidding to get over somebody's maximum, even after going over what they planned to bid---the excitement of the chase, so to speak. Sure, getting into the action early is always good, but lay low and behind the scenes. If your high bids aren't there, somebody else doesn't have to bid over you, raising the price. Towards the very end, give 'em hell.

Yeah, but it will always hold it's value. You"ll be able sell for close to what you purchased it for. I just won the lefty 4001 v63 fg on ebay last week. She's on her way to me. Should sound nice through my 69 ampeg SVT
