It's simple supply and demand...and with Iraq and Katrina, prices are way down.

I think we should set up a Forum Welfare System for just such an emergency.
Maybe you can get used braces. Its kind of gross, but heck, you don't have to wear them!

Jerry: As the proud owner of three 1997's ('89, '91, '99), I agree that the 1997 must stay. As far as differences between years, I've noticed minor changes in headstock shape, Fireglo shading, and F-hole size. My '89 has a very dark Fireglo and the '99 is very bright (but gorgeous). The '91 is a rare Jetglo. The F-hole opening on the '99 is much wider than the '89 and the '91. The headstock on the '99 is slightly longer than the '89 and the '91. They are all great players.
Mitch. You must be in a world of pain agonizing over this. Just so you know, I'm thinking of the impact to you in this scenario. This subject is a hard one. I know that it would upset me to have to divest myself of one of my Rics. Hopefully another path forward will be illuminated before you have to take this to fruition.

Brian: Who knows..... I may already be booked in at no cost!
Mitch: Assuming you have to go back to one Rick, the decision to be made is: "Do I want to keep a 12 or a 6?". If it's a 6, I'd keep the 1997. If it's back to 2, I'd keep the 330/12 and the 1997.
A 620 is going to be easier to find when you "follow the YellowRick road" again in the near future (I hope!).
I guess it also depends on how much money you need to raise......

Thanks everybody for all the great advice and support.Howard, you put your finger on my most agonizing decision:do I want to keep my 1997 or my 330/12.The 1997 is beautiful it sounds wonderful and plays like a dream but my 12-string adds another dimension(the 5th?)to my Rickomania. Now I have another 6-string as I found an almost new Squire Affinity Strat w gigbag at a pawnshop yesterday for $39.This is just a cheap guitar but it suits most of my needs except my need for a Rickenbacker. So the bottom line is I will sell my 620 but I still can't decide between my other 2 Ricks.Oh agony,AGONY!

They don't make them anymore and they stand out on stage and in the studio. Irreplaceable.
