Sorry, no disrespect intended to the V68 or 4005 crowd. A 4002 reintroduction would be "Big" though.

The question is which is better in sound out of the 4002 and the 4004, if the 4002 was ahead of its time, and the 4004 is right up there with the modern basses!

Dear John Hall:

Please don't drop hints or veiled promises or leading comments... You realize that you could sell all of them here at whatever you're prepared to ask!!! We're here because we love your products!!! Please don't go to eBay, please support your lunatic fringe (speaking for myself only)!!!

You're killing me/us!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AHHH....yes....the "not big enough" reference!

You could be "on" to something there, Scottmeister!

John wouldn't have to "produce" any special instruments or put checkered binding on anything....just slap a 75th anniv. badge on those 4002's and BAM.....there you have it! ;^)

I'm out, if that helps.

For a Ric to be perfect, it needs a toaster in the neck position... If I wanted J-bass pickup layout, I'd go out and buy a Fender Jazz. In fact I did, more than once, but never kept them for long. I like the 4001/4003 Rics much better.

No disrespect to the 4002 fans... I hope you get those 25 basses!

Hey John:

I'll come by and cut your grass and wash your car for free and then you can sell me one of those palletized 4002 basses and I won't tell anybody ... sorry I don't have an airplane ... or I would settle for a 2050 or a 2060 ...

I have an idea John: How about we raffle all 25 out to members of the Rick Forum. The money would go to your favorite cause. We could sell...say...25 tickets at...$5.00 each...

I can't even come up with a response to this thread.

I've just got little 4002's dancing through my head like sugarplums or something...

Dear Santa:

I want a Rickenbacker 4002 bass for Christmas. There are a few NOS ones in the Rickenbacker factory, maybe you can trade John Hall an airplane for them. I've been good this year, you know I haven't been buying and playing any Fender or Ibanez basses.

Sincerely

a big kid

No begging here, Mr. Hall... I have more respect, for you and me alike. I'll ask but once Image

Can I purchase a NOS 4002, please?

Unless Santa can rip off John's required vehicle and deliver it, I don't think we stand a chance of seeing the 4002's. Image

I have been looking for one of these since high school (early 1980's). I have not ever even seen one in person.
