...that "4002 pallet"-story reminds me of the current, quite clever chinese oil trading policy: They spend more and more of the oil world market, but do not deploy their own resources until the world market resources fade out. Then they can achieve much more profit!!!

Hey Jeff, I'm with you on that! That would be very cool. Kind of what I was trying to do with my 4001 project. I would rather have the bubinga fingerboard than ebony... looks nicer to me.

But why stop there... I want a4002Xii5!

I guess we can dream,but I'm sure JH knows exactly what he wants to make ,we are just a few on a grand scale,were thinking of what would be cool to own and play,hes got to think profit whats good for the company.

Although a lot of what is said here is sarcastic,we ought to be thankful and supportive of Mr Hall and Rickenbacker and feel lucky we can interact with Him and his organization so easily.

Kenneth, I agree! It's very cool that Mr. Hall takes the time to post here. And he has a lot of history and tradition to uphold, so he can't just make new models every other week.

Still, I always enjoyed the fact that every now and then you would see a slightly different Rick, back when they had a little more time to try new things.

I think he could do a limited edition bass with those left overs. Of course I wouldn't be able to afford it then... but I'd be happy to buy one unassembled!

Maybe some day there will be a Rick custom shop!

Brian, profit in general is not bad. If the Rick company would not have made profit through out the years, none of us could ever afford any 4001/4002/4003/4004/4005...

What I do not like is when some day people are sacrificed for the sake of profit. But that's what we see now every day somewhere. I wish Rick company never sees that day. But we also should not blame it on the business - behind every decision there is a person that takes it.
