Boy, you seem to have us on his one, Peter. Even Internet searching doesn't turn up anything. I did discover this: " Robert Plant was in a pre-Zep band called Listen that released a cover of the Rascals' "You Better Run" in 1965, but that's as close as I came.

The answer is the THE LOOSE ENDS a Birmingham band that covered the Beatles "Taxman" in 1966.

The Young Rascals connection is that they covered one of their tracks "I Ain't Gonna Eat My Heart Out Anymore" on the B side of their first single.

Well done Dave close I would say but as tha single and subsequent singles were on CBS it counts it out.
