I don’t get this Wavy Grover ‘thing’ . Two of my basses have wavy Grovers & IMO they are a poor design. It’s lucky that I don’t play in a heavy rock band any more as I don’t think the Grovers would survive more than a handful of gigs.

Are you sure they aren't Schaller's? I have a set of open-back Schaller's from the 70's that were a common mod for Ricks back then. They're really solid(and heavy). They have a prominent ridge down the middle of the keywind and large posts that require drilling the headstock holes out. I have definitely seen them in photos of Geddy Ricks in the past, but I can't tell so much in this photo.

On a second look at the photo...I see 1 inch spacing and what appears to be a raised-letter TRC, so I'm gonna say Schallers.

You might be right there Jeff I know he replaced them I don't know what he put on,they look similar to wavy grovers he would have taken off.

Grovers suck ... they look funny and they fall apart ... they are too cheap to be on a Rickenbacker ...

these days Geddy's 4001 basses sport schaller m4 tuners ... pretty much the same as what a 4004 has ...

I had some open gear Grovers that looked a lot like the ones in above picture of Geddy. The Schaller pic posted by Jeff reminds me that I once had some like that too. I change my opinion to Schaller.

Grover's these days aren't bad though . . . probably because they don't make the same tuners. I'm using a set of Grover Titans on one of my basses, and they're just fine.
