To me, the classic Rick sound is heard on my fave Renaissance tune, "Spare Some Love". I love JC's bass playing in that tune. And Annie's voice is so angelic.
Btw, Annie was at the Philly Guitar Show last year. She was featuring her artwork on some acoustic guitars that she hand painted...I mean totally painted - top, back, sides, headstock. They were very attractive but I'm afraid the painted top stifled the bright tone of the guitar. I think they were laminated tops anyway, not solid. I did get to speak with her for a bit, told her what a fan I was. She autographed my T-shirt.

To Jeff Scott: 1. no, I can't play anywhere near as good as Jon. I apologize to his bass everytime I pick her up. 2. so glad the mods bothered you ! I actually gave some thought to having her restored to 1974 appearance, but changed my mind. All I've done was had her cleaned up, removed the humungous piece of wood he had under the bridge (action was very high) and had all electronics checked out. She's quite a lady !

Good to hear that David. I too have it on vinyl. Don't get me going on the vinyl vs CD thing. I think most people with any musical leanings will think that vinyl wins hands down... (-;
Well I hate to say it, but I don't even own a turntable any more. All my vinyl are in storage. I'm not saying I wouldn't play them if I had a turntable, but I haven't had any desire to get one.
When I first got a CD player I remember A/B'ing Mummer by XTC. I got the same song cued up on both the vinyl and CD and switched back and forth. I was quite shocked how mushy the vinyl sounded in comparison to the CD! Yes, it was warmer, but mushy. I used to think CDs were a bit cold sounding and bass shy, but either I have become accustomed to the sound, or, most likely, they have improved sound wise. They really do sound more like the source recording.
So yes, I'm a CD lover now.
(oh and my iPod too!)
