My '63 625 is a bit strange as well...the neck pickup did not have a route for the neck pickup wire. It actually goes underneath the bottom pickguard. The bottom guard sits on rubber grommets.

I think they are being backed up, but there is no access to them at this time. Maybe Peter will chime in here...
