Hello from a new rick owner

You can't and mustn't forget though - you could have the greatest-looking bass on the planet... and it could sound like complete ****, (either due to it.. or you)..
As good as it is to have great-looking instruments, if Rics were shaped like lovehearts with 8 different pickups, only came in 70s veneer mahogany finish, cost $199 and weighed 18lbs... I'd still play them.
There's something about them which I find simply magical. As if the very people who built it at the factory put their heart and soul into producing an instrument of such exquisite facade.
.... Although, one can't deny, Ric players have a tendancy to be rather impassioned over things such as finishes, binding, hardware - the nice pretty "extras" - becomming frenzied over horseshoes and Grover tuners - the stuff your professional working bass player would find...er.. rather menial!
Don't be intimidated, new member - if your Rickenbacker is right for you, it plays well and sounds great - you're there... go out and use it for what it was built for.
It's only us lot, the Rickenbacker custodians/boarderline-possessed which freak out over 21 frets, etc.
