My Tonelab just arrived, and I'm using it live this evening (w/330 12) without the benefit of having experimented with all of its capabilities. Anyone have any tips on how to capture the Byrds/Searchers/Harrison tone? Is there a pre-set program that will get it? I have a Jangle Box...should I try a manual setting, and if so, what works for you folks?
And finally, is there sufficient output on the Tonelab (not the SE) to run direct into the P.A. without a stage amp? Can I just go Tonelab to D.I.?

Well you've certainly given us lots of time to help you out. LOL

Check the files section.
I have a Tonelab and use it with my 360/12. I use the AC30 amp model and associated speaker cabinet. Gain = 2.8
VR Gain = 8.9
Treb = 6.1
Mid = 3.7
Bass = 3.5
Ch Vol = 9.0
These are just the settings I use, I must confess I didn't spend a huge amount of time carefully varying each parameter to get the exact sound.

The Tonelab will go direct to the PA Jere. Set the output switch on the back to Line (not Amp) and plug it in. No DI box is needed. Set the output volume on the Tonelab to almost full and adjust your PA volume to suit.
Start with the model as AC30 or AC30TB and AC30 cabinet or AD412 cabinet models (what ever is best to your ears). Set the effect model to compressor, or use your Jangle box set up as Howard mentions (but keep the output level low, you could cause the Tonelab input to digitally clip if you go in too hot). I also use the Chorus, but set the speed and depth as low as they can go. This gives a depth to the tone.
I can't give you the exact settings, because mine are set for a 660/12 and my ears, while your 330 will be different. But these should get you in the ballpark.

Never, ever drool on your surf shirt. It wrecks the solo.

The acoustic simulator seems to work real well with the "Folk" pre-set.
But I'm still not getting it for pure, 60's, jangle & chime. I haven't quite figured out the gain structure, I guess. Still getting too much distortion. Black 2X12 amp & cabinets work fairly well, but I cannot get them clean. Vox AC15 comes pretty close, but I can't get that combo much cleaner. Boutique Clean is the same story. When I listen to Les Fradkin's CDs (he claims to record w/Tonelab and Jangle Box) I'm not even close to that sound. Keep working on it I suppose.
