Sheena: That was a joke from The Rutles movie 'All You Need Is Cash'. Somebody is sure to point that out, if I don't!

Wolfgang: Nobody was laughing at you. They may have been laughing at my terrible German. The only thing worse is my 'Pepe LePew' French. Americans are often accused of being deficient when it comes to foreign languages. I simply proved them right in my case.

Sheena: Go to www.rutles.org and read their 'Story'. I think this includes most of the movies script. It's the story of the Pre-Fab Four!

Lost in the translation? Everyone has problems --even John Fitzgerald Kennedy wound up saying "I am a jelly doughnut" in his famous Berlin Wall speech when he meant to say "I am a Berliner." I have enough trouble with English (AMerican English).

Boy, am I sorry to have missed out on all this drama...a guy I never heard of left me in the dust with all the other Beatles books, and I didn't even know about it...

But the really important thing here is: who the hell is Nikki Oyes, and how may I acquire a poster of her?
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

Dave: I suppose it wouldn't have worked out any better if JFK had been making his speech in another major German city...

"Ich bin ein Frankfurter!"

or

"Ich bin ein Hamburger!"

Aw ... they always go after the Kennedys.

"Ask not what your plum tree can do for you, ask what you can do for your plum tree."

Look it up. Image

And have you heard the one about the giant rat mistaken for a chihuahua?

Yeah, you guys were right... I just typed the correct way to say "I don't understand..."

Then was a bit wary that I may have gotten it wrong, so I said "I've only studied German for two years" and then asked if anyone else spoke the language.

I took Spanish for three years in high school, which was an obvious choice, having lived in San Diego, California for the first 18 years of my life. Now that I'm up in Northern California, I decided to take German, as I'm planning on working in Europe at some point. Image Next year I plan to take Italian for a quarter.

Tschüss!
