While Roger Glover is a Vigier user these days, he still owns two Ric basses. One is a red fretless (his words) and the other is the famous Jetglo that is undergoing restoration.
Glenn Hughes has a signature series of basses from Manne.

If you think all is going well, you've obviously overlooked something.

Les Claypool plays a ric sometimes also... but like most of the other artist mentioned... he also plays other basses far more often.
The ric has always been the main axe of Lemmy as far I as have seen. PLus, motorhead (as scary as it might be) was pioneering in some realms of music.
Fender will give a signature bass to anyone who is in a band with a #1 album. The bassists for blink 182 and Greenday got one. They are popular... not pioneering bass players. Geddy Lee yes.
Is Lemmy a nazi? Who knows... I won't judge until I hear him speak. I disagree with him though... I think Hitler shot himself not because of faith, but because he was a coward in the end. Goering too.

I think Rickenbacker's LK model bass is beautiful just for what it is - natural wood with intricate carvings of oak leaves. If it was just a non-signature model, say the RIC 4014 Oak Leaf Model, I'd be interested in one just because it is so nice. The signature unfortunately makes it too valuable for that kind of consideration....

I'll pipe in here since I would be considered a metalhead and a Motorhead fan as well.
War and violence are standard themes in metal. Think Iron Maiden "Aces High" and "2 Minutes To Midnight". Think Black Sabbath. Knowing what they know now about Ozzy, does anyone really think he is that guy he portrayed himself to be when writing "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" or "Mr. Crowley" or "War Pigs"? No, he's a guy who was portraying an image, looking to shock, not a devil-worshipper.
Jimmy Page bought the mansion where Alistair Crowley lived. Does that make him a guy who engages in black magic rituals? No, just a guy who was interested in the occult. Does that mean we should shun Led Zeppelin?
I've heard Lemmy interviewed and he never came off that way to me. Maybe he had a dad or family member who was lost in a war. Maybe he is fascinated with what makes people do these things, or blindly follow a leader who was so obviously bent on global domination. Or, maybe he just thinks it looks cool, and "metal".

"to say that lemmy is a nazi because he collects daggers and such is idiotic"
No-one here said Lemmy was a Nazi. I said he was stupid. That's very different from being a Nazi. And it isn't "daggers and such". Many people collect daggers. Lemmy collects Nazi memorabilia. Big difference. The point where it starts to matter to me is when that symbolism is stuck to the bass of a high-profile artist.
"who cares about religion , sexual preference ,historical beliefs ,Its all about the music"
That is exactly why he shouldn't have put that sticker on the bass. Because, as you say, "it's all about the music". And this whole thread started not as a discussion of whether we like Lemmy or not, but whether we like the bass in the pic or not. And I don't.

The fish in my pond are eating me out of house and home at the moment and my kitten bought a frog in last night, it was unharmed and subsequently released back into the pond. (Attempt at change of topic).

Hi Pete ... my neighbours pond churns out a ton of frogs every year. When our cats were younger they used to wreak carnage (legs here, heads there) but now Boo and Bear are in their dotage the frogs have free reign !!
