Cool! I loved mine while I had it, but other things required my selling it.

Jeff, I noticed you play a wide variety of basses during your performances. Do you have a favorite?

I'd also be interested in your opinion of the strengths and weakness of the Cii you owned.

Over the years I have bought and sold lots of basses, but in the past few years I was determined to hang on to the special ones. My main gigging bass these days is the V63 but depending on the sound I want The Zon or Rick Turner can't be beat. If it wasn't for the RICs I would probably use my Fender California Precision Bass Special for my main bass as it does have a great tone that is quite versatile given it's PJ pickup combination, plus it's neck is nice and thin like the '60s RICs.

The Cii was a great bass but I found the tone was a bit too dark with the HB-1 pickups, which is the reason I put the toasters in it, greatly improving the sound. I liked the very light weight of the instrument, but in the end I sold it because the neck was just too fat for my hands to play comfortably for a long gig. Now that I have the NS CR4M I am gaining a new appreciation for fat necks! Image

Thanks Jeff, interesting that you use both old school and modern hardware.

Ever try a Ken Smith, thoughts?

I'ver tried KS basses a couple times, they are very nice but the tone was a bit generic IMO.

Jared,
Aren't you saving up for that tractor?

I really like Dixie Chicks.

Jeff, I must be old, the big chick looks like way too much maintenance for a boy on a tractor.

Sure is purty though!
