C64S on EBay?

Post by lowendbob »

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since when did the C64S come with a split bridge, and without a zero fret? I contacted the seller, and he said this one does have a zero fret. Can any one else see it?

Don't forget that the one on eBay is a 2995 model, so things may have changed by then. Image

Is that a "C" in Mapleglo? The horns don't appear shaved.

My C64S has a white nut behind the zero fret... so I'd say it's a C64 (no "S"). Is the finish gloss or matte? The "S" should have a matte finish.
My first bass was a Rickenbacker...
My best bass is a Rickenbacker...
My last bass may very well be a Rickenbacker

Looks like a 4001C64 MG to me. This is weird though, it's before my time, but I have never let a 4001C64 MG through... ever. A 4001C64S JG, yes, but this strikes me as odd...

Ben, I've seen a couple. I think Gary @NCM had one and i think a fellow forumite had posted pictures as well.

Good eye, Bob. Another one for the history books.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I'd be inclined to call this one a c64... obviously, the horseshoe has been changed/modified, but the surround is like the one pictured on the Rick site...it's like a hexagon - not quite a rectangle. The c64s has a rectangular pickup surround. The nut is black on this one, where it should be white on the s model. There's no zero fret. Gloss of finish is tough to tell from the pic, but you can see some camera glare along the curvature of the instrument. Also, horns don't appear to be shaved.

All of these subtle details would suggest c64 as opposed to c64s.

Chris...don't forget. You don't sell your C64 MG to anyone but me. Image
