The Forum CD Project is ON!
How do I submit a song? ha ha ha Just kidding!
Just finished burning my CD. It goes in the mail tomorrow (aka "post" for those of you across the pond).
Warning... it clocks in at a hefty 6:03. It's kind of a two-part "epic" called "He Showed Up In May/She Left In June." I hope the length is not a problem.
In its defense, its redeeming quality is: it features models 330/12 (in stereo!!!), 380L PZ, 1000, and 4080. So put that in your pipe and smoke it!

That's great news Gary. How many songs were submitted ? Looking forward to hearing the contributions from this ornery bunch. Ric's sure do look nice, but in the end, I want to hear them put to use !

Thanks Alisha and Steve. I received 21 CDs, but I don't have near me right now the breakdown of how many had just one and how many had two songs.

Tony and I thought about that and decided to have all of the CDs as received sent to him (who will be doing the mastering) after I make a back-up copy.... Is that going to be a big box of CDs to ship overseas?
Or did you already condense them onto one CD ...

I traded it in toward my 730L acoustic that I got new from Mike Parks (he subsequently sold it; it's on Page Four of his Sold pages: http://www.the-music-connection.com/ricsold4.htm). It was a nice little bass with a really nice sound to it.

Because of the number of songs involved, there will likely have to be a choice made. I think that I will choose the final songs as best I can & then send a copy to Gary & Peter for their thoughts.
As a result, the final copies will be a little while down the line yet.
To clarify a point....I am not a mastering engineer & the final album will be only roughly mastered (a touch of EQ, compression, normalising the gain, width, enhancement etc). I did mention this at the start of it all. What I am going to do is choose the tracks/running order & try to sort out any massive track to track variations in sound & then supply a master CD, from which copies can be taken.

'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.
Excellent Tony. You might want to master them back into WAV files, so that the final CDs can be made straight from the computer. In my experience, a burn of a burn sometimes produces horrible clicks in between tracks - just trying to help. This should be interesting ... thanks for your's and everyone else's effort. Maybe we'll have it by Christmas

Don't worry Steve, the CD's will be ready for Christmas presents.
A burn of a burn wont be a problem, believe me. It is the way that I & most studios work, by producing a CD master for duplication. Computers are great for storage & manipulation, but you can't beat world class outboard! Like I said, I am not a mastering studio, but my studio includes outboard by Urei, Trident, Focusrite, Joe Audio etc, so although much of my equipment is quite modest (DBX 1066's, Drawmer 221/231's, Lexicon & TC Electronic etc), I have enough 'good' stuff to hopefully produce a decent product.

Tony, what Christmas gift can I provide you with, so that I make the cut ? I'm sorry, is bribery illegal over the internet ?? Shoot, scratch that. Good luck in your choosings. Maybe all 21 tracks will fit on a CD. If not, we can fade them into one another, and make one long 21-song medley. Then, we'll jam the whole thing, front to finish, at the next Ric confluence.
