"If you think the "specified upcharge is a little steep",I'd be interested to know what you think is fair."
Eric....that's a tough one. Like I said, I think the price for new Rics is a bargain for the quality. The special paint and pickguard/TRC are nice but, to me, for $2100-ish that's a big mark-up for a mini-COTY and engraved vintage type pickguard/TRC. There seems to be far more involved in the C64 which is in the same ballpark price wise. As far as the limited status, I paid $1800 for my LK and it is more limited and, IMO, wins on uniqueness factor as well. (BTW......even at $2800 list I still think the LK is far better bang for the buck). Cost associated with adding them to the production schedule seems odd. Wouldn't they be added at the end like everything else? As for rarity....Ric hasn't seemed to take that into consideration in past pricing so I'm surprised to see that referenced now.
Again, I think Rics are a great value in general so even at $2K-ish I believe a "plain" 4003 is worth it so with the special factor it is certainly a fair price. Just, to me, the cost over a "standard" 4003 for what you get with the 75th is out of proportion with past practice for limited models. So maybe I'm just a little surprised.

Fair enough..Everyone attaches their own personal criteria on what constitutes a value to them, and there's nothing wrong with that at all. After all it's their money!
I personally (bias aside) think it's a great value, especially given the quality of the instrument.

"It's not the obscene thick gloss, but how it's applied"
I think their very worthy of the price. Cool finish choice, TRC and Pickguard like no other. I would have liked to have seen a few other things as well,,but Im not complaining.
I'd like to see the finish made into the '07 COY. It would look just as nice with a standard guard and TRC.
