If I'm not mistaken, "Off the Wall" refers to a column by Teisco Del Ray in Guitar Player magazine during the 70s and 80s.
His column featured the weirdest, obscure guitars...those with plenty of knobs, switches, mother-of-toiletseat pickguards, pointy headstocks etc.
I imagine the Rickenbacker headstock trophy was awarded to the owner of the weirdest "off the wall" guitar at the guitar show.
