Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout Bass Combo

Post by vito »

Has anyone played one of these? I'm looking for a powerful, portable combo. These seem to fit the bill, I especially like the removable head.

Any comments?

Thanks for the tip, Steve. That appears to be a pretty good price, too. But I'm not quite ready to pull the trigger. Still trying to gather some info.

Call on Andy O'Conner, he's a Mesa Boogie fan.

Mesa stuff rules! I just can't afford it! I've been stalking a 400+ Bass Amp for years but haven't found the right one.

Damn!

The Buster is better suited for me-less filter caps;

Hi Mike, I've had the 12" speaker Scout for about a year. Coolest little amp I've ever used by a wide margin.

Powerful, great tone, loud and easy to carry. I paid $1150 for her new. Worth every penny.

Thanks for the input, J.Gary!

Sounds like everything I'm looking for. Now, how to afford one?......

Hi Mike, I got her at Huber & Breese Music in Fraser, Michigan. There is a great guy there, his name is Mike, who is a working bassist/guitarist/sound man/singer/song writer.

He is a unique combination of old school and high tech. I've learned over the years to listen carefully when he speaks. He has a great ear for bass equipment. When I asked about something cool and portable, he took me directly to the Scout. They sell and stock all brands, the Scout was a clear step above. For as small and light as she is, the performance is amazing.

Because of the way this thing honks, I'm looking hard at the 750 Big Block Boogie. I'm a Trace/Ampeg guy, but Mesa has got something going on here.

Careful, leave your credit card at home.
