My dream bass??? Hmmmmmmm, let me think... how about a 5 string V63 in Montezuma Brown? Randy is right, that colour is coooooooooooooooool!!! And imagine what those 5 strings would sound like with a horseshoe and a toaster. Can I place my order now...

I had a '67 4005WB JG (the serial # was GB ????, don't remember), wish I still had it. That bass had the most awesome recorded tone.

How about a Montezuma Brown 4003, checkerbinding, chrome hardware, black guard, and black nameplate? OH YEA!

4004 Cheyenne II in Montezuma Brown with the flame maple and gold hardware would also be a standout.

OK, how about a Cheyenne III made from maple neck-through with purple-heart wings on body and headstock. Yum. How about it, John Hall?

I have too many to list:

1. 4002 natural with more birds on it than the local dump.
2. 4002 in walnut with a custom spalted maple top.
3. Cheyenne II 5 string, natural with deep, luscious quilting, and walnut winged headstock (could be any darker wood actually)
4. 4003S/8 with horseshoe pickup.
5. Laredo (original) with maple fretboard
6. Laredo (new) in Montezuma Brown
7. 4001 in Canadian Autumglo/Walnut (not the matte finish)
8. Blackstar
9. 72 4001, checker binding, horseshoe, toaster
10. 4003 white/black

Is that enough?

A mint Dec. '67 4005 FG has just got on ebay with a starting bid of $3000.

Still an absolute beauty, even with the 5th knob's cap missing and the clear thumbrest relocated to above the E string.

Talk about charisma. Like any Rickenbacker bass, this one has lots of it. Moving that finger rest was not a good idea, though.
Is it my eyes or the four treble pickup corner screws are missing?

This may be heresy but here goes. How about a "4001A"; duplicate the shape, weight and feel of a mid-70's 4001, equip with a toaster and a horseshoe, then have active electronics to reproduce the Squire/Camp/Strater sound. Oh my, would that excite me.

You've got eagle eyes, Sergio! The lady does indeed need 4 pickup screws. One of the TRC screws is gone too. (Don't know if she needs 4 more for the neck toaster...)

Well, if I had the money, I would look for one without the fingerrest relocated and thus no extra holes in the body. Yes, I would prefer true virginity for such an old lady please.

The metal parts need a good deal of detarnishing and cleaning with some '"Magic Toothpaste". (Hey hey Sergio, tried it yet??? Shines the pickguard/TRC/tuner/whatever screws just as well with even less elbow grease!)

I suppose the toaster would only be 1/2" from the neck like most pre- mid '73 4001 basses?

Add the 21st fret (standard specs, binding for the fingerboard end, please) and checkered body and headstock binding (optional) to this 4001A, and I'll order one in every finish available! ...worth robbing a bank to support such a purchase...
