Come on, you guys are kidding yourselves, there is always room for one more guitar. Even if I owned one each of every model from every year, in every color, I'm sure I could look at another and say "well, the figuring is different, or the inlays look real nice, or the glo is different..."

However, for now I'll just have to be content with what I have and perhaps someday acquiring that latest apple of one's eye won't be such a big deal. Image

Jeff, my wife would agree with you. Every time I tell here I'm done buying gear she says "no your not" and I'll buy something a couple days later.

I'm not going to tell my wife I'm done buying gear until I actually am. I ordered an Ampeg PortaBass 250 on Fathers Day(no arguments there for obvious reasons) and another 3000 a couple of weeks ago currently undergoing restoration and conversion to fretless. She was a little peeved but cooled off and asked if I'd at least wait till she catches up with me(she has only one guitar, a Telecaster, and is still waiting to purchase the amp of her dreams, a Vox Valvetronics AD60).

Hey Dane,
Buy her a VOX AD60 and make her happy.
She'll be all cool and smooth next time you buy something.

Dane: Be sure your wife does not see this page.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Dane, I agree with Paul--buy your wife the AD60....my husband bought me one for Valentine's Day and it rocks! .....And it makes the Rics sound fabulous, though they can sound pretty un-ricky with some of the wilder settings.... Anyway, I'm sure your wife will love it.... You might want to get her a Ric to go with the amp; if she hasn't tried one she doesn't know what she's missing!

Oh, I'm definitely getting her the Vox next month. No arguments here. She wanted a 620 but the Tele was a lot less and she is able to get some decitedly "Rickish" tones out of it. I'm sure there's a 620 or 660 in her future though. She has it bad for the "R" tailpiece.

Hey Paul,
I just ordered a 4003MB today! By the way, I will keep my 4001V63. I will never part with that baby! This will make four basses for me. That will be my limit, unless RIC starts making the 4004CII five string more available. I've yet to see one except on the Ric web site.
I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again

That's because it's the only one that exists. Image

Whoa! (Fireworks in full bloom) Mega congratulations, Randy.
Now we've got 3 4003 MB owners here!

"... four basses for me. That will be my limit..."
That, I can not quarantee ya, my friend.
4 becomes 8 quickly without us knowing it, especially after falling in love with RIC basses...

no matter how many basses you have ... you always need one more ... I have ten and I would like another 4003s5, a 4003s8, another 4004, and a 3001, and a 2030 ...

I'm new to this forum (I hang out a lot at the Fender forum) and I have a 4003 MB that will arrive in about 3 weeks. I've been waiting quite a while for a Ric color that "did it for me" and the Montezuma Brown burst is awesome. So now you'll have 4 MB owners here.

Congrats Randy and John,
Welcome to the Montezuma Club! Mine should be here in less than a week. I was looking for a 4003 for a while, came close to getting a Fireglo (I still like that color). When Paul posted the pic of the MB in this thread it was the first time I had seen that finish. It was love at first sight. So thanks to Paul, I was able to order one before they sold out!
