Teenage Fanclub
I've been listening to Teenage Fanclub for for the past couple of years. They've been around since the early '90s, but since I don't get around much any more, I'm slow on the uptake. They put the lie to my credo,"If it was recorded after 1970, I don't like it."
Anyway, I didn't know T.F. had videos -- again, old man - slow on the uptake.
Here's a track called "The Concept" I always thought it sounded like they played Ricks, but now I know for sure.

I really like these guys, Im sure a lot of you will too.

Yeah, Thirteen does it for me too. Mine has bonus tracks including a great cover of Phil Ochs' "Chords of Fame."
They do some neat covers. Anybody ever hear their versions of "Mr. Tambourine Man" or The Rutles "Between Us"? I, mean -- Who covers Rutles songs? Pretty cool.

TF fans should also check out the Pyramid Builders Union, who have at least two banging power pop tracks called "January 6" and "Under the Radar".
The Shazam ("Godspeed the Shazam") and Cotton Mather are two others in the Big Star mode, although Cotton Mather mix in more obvious Beatles' references. All very yummy, especially in the summertime.

I saw TF on the Bandwagonesque tour in Vancouver. I have to admit I was sorely disappointed- an unholy din from beginning to end, though I love their stuff. The opening band, Afghan Wigs, were most unpleasant. They kept complaining because they couldn't bring their hash over the border.
Cotton Mather are great! More power pop, please.

I also am a big fan of Teenage Fanclub. I was hooked on them from the first time a friend of mine said, "here, check THIS out" and popped a copy of Bandwagonesque into my cassette deck. I think that Bandwagonesque, Thirteen and Grand Prix are all great albums. I would love to see them live sometime.
