They all look a bit sleepy for some reason (imho).

So when did Roger add the 3rd pickup? On TTT he only has two.

I love watching David on MTM on both the Ed Sullivan one and also the one linked off of the TTT link. He looks like an awed fan when Dylan walks out.

He(McGuinn)got the guitar you refer to(a 64 360/12) back from Rickenbacker in Feb. 1966 with the added middle pickup and the custom wiring. He took delivery of a 2nd 12-string in June '66, this one was a 3-pickup 12-string from the start...and others too, later on...

Thanks, John. Not paying close attention in the past to guitars (just basses), I thought he always had the 3 pickup 12s. Now I know. I take it that's when the compression circuit went in?

John, all of The Byrd's really well-known hits were made while Roger's first Rickenbacker was still a 360/12.....all of his compression was outboard gear, nothing like that existed in the guitars until the LE guitars came out in the late 80's. Roger installed the Vox Treble Boost on his 2nd guitar after he picked it up from Rickenbacker in June '66.

Had I thought about my post a little before, I'd have realized the IC circuit used wasn't around in the 60s... Doh!
