I plan to get some flatwounds soon for my 72 4001. But now I look around and see a lot of confusing choices regarding length---extra long, 3/4, etc---what length would I select for my Ric?

As a side note, when I got my '76 4000 in 1986, it still had the original flats on it.
They still sounded good, but were starting to unwind: the edges of the flat outer winding was starting to lift.
I also never liked rounds until I got the Rick.
I'd like to try flats on it again, but I think I was the last one to buy them here in town, so there aren't any to be had locally!

Plus five minus five!

I have always used Rotosound 66 on my 4003 and never tought of switching. They are really confortable, light and the sound is... well you all know...
BUT! I recently switched to D'addario chromes (45-100). Took about a week to get used to it, but now it just feels right.
I'll need to buy an other 4003, so I could use it with rotosounds and have best of both worlds.

Yes, I played one... and I know!
