String buying

Post by stubby »

Anybody recommend a good method to purchase some Rickenbacker strings up here in Canada? I ordered some through L&M in Burlington (the closest Rick distributor) and they said, no problem but it could take a bit. That was in May! I don't mind waiting a year or so for a guitar but for strings? Any quick way to get these strings into Canada, close to me?

You could try one of the U.S. dealers, such as North Coast Music.

Hi Bill,

I get mine through US dealers North Coast, Jim Rhoads, Pick of the Rics, the Rickenbacker Page, or the Ric Boutique. Depends who's got a deal on. I bring them in 10 packs or so at a time. They normally come in via USPS and you pay exchange rate, a $5 broker fee, GST and PST. Travel time varies from 3 days to a week.

Steve's here in Montreal told me I had to buy 24 packs at a time and I'd have to wait. Yeah right.

I got mine from Pick of the Ricks. Excellent service & priced the same as RIC.
I've also bought them direct with no hassles.
Might as well order some extra screws & doodads while you're at it.
Waiting time about 1-2 weeks (except at holiday time).
