Whoa, I don't normally like burgundy that much, but those eggplant ones are spectacular.....gorgeous bass!

I loved my long-lost March 1971 4001, KC012, even more for her eggplant-burgundy color than for her checkered binding or her walnut wings, or her sparkley fret markers.....

The Marauder dates back to 1970. Early examples had dark purple finishes with a Mirraflek (SP) bits mixed in. They are quite collectable today.

Interesting. I owned a used one briefly back in 1983. Not bad a guitar, and quite inexpensive.

The one pictured above is a later example. The early ones had rosewood fingerboards. My brother played one for years. Today it is part of a Kiss tribute collection as Paul Stanley used to smash them to bits on stage. Perhaps that why they are so rare?

Holy Darkness, Batman... If that bass is truly as dark as those pictures, then my December '72 never came close to eggplant. Is it more Burgundy in direct light? The picture of the truss rod cavity looks just like mine, but all the others look dark as Jetglo.

Incidentally, I'm a Naomi Watts fan...

If I get off work early this week I'll get some outdoor shots. It still looks plenty dark though. You can barely see the skunk stripe on the bass. When I first saw the for sale pictures I thought it was JG.

Hey Bob, that was an incredible Deal you got on that bass, $1500. I was gonna call them that next Monday, but of course the best man won that one
