Thanks Elys. I'm glad you finally got that 21 fretter! Wish I still had my old one. I sold it to Daryl Jones (Lowdbass) in late 1999 who promptly traded it to The Bass Palace (Bob Hynoski). I called Daryl a few months after it sold to see if I could buy it back and that's when he told me about trading it away. Daryl did not even know it had 21 frets! I'm sure Bass Palace made a bundle on it. I called Bob and he supposedly did not remember the bass..........

Yeah RIGHT he did not remember how many tens of times markup he made on it Image

I wish I had known you then - it would still be here and well-loved and protected too Image Image You could have visited it anytime you fancied...

Not someone - everyone.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

Hey Bob, I hope that is not the case it's gonna ship in! Image Since my first Rick bought new in 1971 was a March 1971 eggplant burgundy, I can heartily agree with you that this is the most beautiful 4001 Rick color ever Image Image Congratulations Bob, I can already hear the chanting from all around the Forum world on this one: We Want Photos! We Want Photos! We Want Photos! Image Image

They also made some dark one's in April of 1973, not sure of the lighter/darker timeline.

For Bob and Jason, if the neck is straight but one rod is tight and the other not, I think that is all right. My 2004 4003 is that way, one rod very tight, the other barely snugged, but the neck is straight and stable.

Yeah I used to have a Marauder. If I remember correctly it cost me not much over $200 with a nice hard case.
I have a B&W pic of it around here somewhere.
