Hey just was turned on to some room mic 'bootleg' recordings of some of our tunes last Saturday night. The actual recording is kinda nasty but what do you want for free? By no stretch a polished recording but was fun!

The top three were from the gig.

Thanks guys for the kind words. I didn't even know we were being recorded - a friend had a small MP3 recorder.

Mark how was the new band's first outing? Any pics or recordings?

Hey Tom - How was our first outing? I'll sum it up in one word for you:

"Eh..."

Deb our new drummer was actually really good. She wins the prize for least amount of F-ups between the three of us. We weren't TERRIBLE; we rocked and had a good time, the crowd seemed to like us well enough, but I couldn't hear my vocs very well in the monitors, and subsequently my singing was all over the place. I will say, though that my bass sounded Freaking AMAZING. I'm tempted to post an excerpt from the "Eh..." show just to show a glimpse of the bass tone.

I posted a pic from the show under the 'Picture of you playing your Ric...part 2' thread.

A case of the Eh..s,, happens from time to time. As long as you all didn't stink up the joint and everyone was having fun... that's all that really matters - the joys of live performance! It happens - no retakes. I do love it so.

Would like to hear a snippett for Nightmare tonality.

Hey Tom -

I've posted a small section of the show so you can check out the bass tone. It's pretty rough, so I'll probably take it down in a few days.

This Mind soundcheck

I played through my SWR-400 head & the house Marshall 4x12 cab. I had to sweet talk the sound guy into letting me play my bass through it. It sounded great. The sustain was so prominent that I felt compelled to play with a much lighter attack than usual. It was like riding a powerful racing cycle - you have to be careful letting out the clutch so the bike doesn't just take off from underneath you.

Hey John - Both pickups are up. The horseshoe does dominate a little. The tremolo effect is from my ART rack-mount unit. It's kind of noisy for recording, but works fine for gigs.

Joey - Thanks man!

Mark - that bass sounds good live! Rings nice with good undertow. Was that a PA mix or room mic? Thanks for the soundage!

PA mix. The bass was mic'd 4x12 + direct. There might have been bleed from the drum mics also.

Too bad the quality not so good - looks like everyone was having fun. A lot of sound for just two guys. I watched a couple of the other Small White vids there - too bad no Ric content there (least not that I saw). Anyhow keep on keeping ON!
