What would you sell it for?

I still have yet to give up a guitar on purpose. One ended up firewood (a good use for that guitar) and the other I lent to a friend who got into some legal trouble soon afterwards - his roommates stole everything he had after he got put away...

I've bought 3 basses in the quarter century or so I've been playing bass, and I have never gotten rid of any of them:

1975 4001, 2004 Laredo, 1992 MIJ J-Bass fretless

If someone offered me a bag-o-cash with some silly presidents in it I'd likely part with any of my Rics. The odds that someone offers that magic figure are slim though.

My LK would seem to be the logical keeper but if I could only keep one it would likely be my blackened Laredo. It could easily and somewhat cheaply be visually duplicated but it is a special player and simply sounds fantastic. Just something magical about it. The LK is no slouch BTW.

Brian, The LK is a work of art, but I agree, that blackened Laredo is something special.

I've been wanting to put my hands on one to test drive it but to no avail. I may just go ahead and order one.

Hi John. Yes, the blue boy was mine from about 93 to 2000 or maybe 2001. You've done a great job on it and hopefully at a confluence I can admire your handiwork on it. I'm glad it found a good home.

My 68 I would never part with, among other reasons, it simply sounds better and different than any Ric I've ever held. I'd always want to capture 'that sound' and never be able to.

I'd never sell my '72 4001, for the same reasons Scott has given. Well....I'd have to be offered ridiculous, ludicrous money, which I never would be. Obviously if it paid the mortgage off, that's another thing entirely. But no, that bass means so much to me. The CS could go no problem (may still have to at some stage). I love what it looks like, but it doesn't hit the spot like my '72. My 4000 is going and I must say I'm going to miss it as it probably suits me better than the CS. My Alembic; I'd only let that go if somebody offered me enough money to buy another; not a problem really as they'll still make them exactly as you want them.

And Jeff, that old bass of yours was about as beautiful a Ric as I've ever seen.......

I sold the white Bee Gees RM that Andy owns,I sold DA24 next serial # to Maccas.....but I swear I am going straight from now on guv!
CS has played my CS its a beauty and its insured enough to buy an RM if anything happened to it.

Going to HAVE to get Dale Fortune to make a replica of Andys bass out of my V63!....ALL white.
I loved that bass...and it just goes to show that the bills it paid when I sold it meant nothing compared to owning a beautiful musical instrument.
Hide the guitars when the baliffs call and go to jail if you have to but dont sell!
