Aitch, that would be "the fast track" which is not how this project has progressed! Image That said, the fact that we are close to completion is a great accomplishment.

Glad your all so excited. No deadlines though Steve....I've learned my lesson!!!

There's still the artwork & distribution to sort out, but I'll be talking to Gary about that.

OK Tony, I recommend keeping it simple ... no calendar-style Rickenbacker photos for the cover, please ... I think I may be the other curmudgeon on this forum !

How about a close-up picture of a Rickenbacker truss rod cover, with the words "Forum Artist Compilation", or something or other, printed below it ? That would be just fine.

"Don't forget, pics of all the artists!"

That would be kind of a cool inner-jacket feature. Let us know if you'd like photo submissions - I'm sure all here would be happy to oblige.

Tony, I hope the cover art is the painting you did of Paul's Capri....that would be the perfect cover, I think! Image

Thanks everyone, but it's me who should be thanking you for your patience. I have now copied the CD & will send to Gary & Peter today or tomorrow.

Artwork is the problem. If we were selling 500, then it would be no problem as you could get a CD package deal. But I would estimate 80-100 required & that makes artwork prohibitive. There will certainly be no room for photos of the artists & as things stand, will probably consist of a deskjet printed cover & traycard. This is still quite expensive, as the ink is very expensive, but is probably the best way forward & offers pro looking results.....unless anyone has a better idea????

Sounds great, Tony. Don't sweat it, there is always someone who wants the house moved a little to the left.

I just hope you like it....something brought to mind the question of EQ preferences this morning, so I checked my notes to see what I had done. Sure enough, it confirmed the classic difference between the stereo typical British & American tastes in EQ. The British like their mid, whilst the Americans seem to like a little smoother sound, by scooping out some of the mid & accenting the very high end. My notes show that on many offerings, I added some mid & cut some top! Ooops...perhaps a Brit doing the mastering wasn't such a good idea!!!

Mind you, in fairness, I only very lightly applied EQ, so I don't think you'll find it too bad. I didn't change the flavour of any submission, but many now sound more powerful than the originals. Some I helped a great deal & others I did next to nothing. I tried to ensure a smoother listening experience when listened to one after the other, by use of EQ & maximising the loudness. I also added extra life into many by increasing the stereo width. It was really hard, because there was a great variation in stages & quality of recording....some were quite raw & recorded with the minimum of equipment at home, some were home recordings but with a little more equipment, some had been recorded professionally, but not mastered & a couple where already mastered.

I think it's great though....

Can we see a track list, or do we have to wait to get the CD?
