John....offsite active hot standby server, managed thin-route replication...you haven't hired the right person at RIC yet who knows how to do it right...

Whatever . . . it's just a website.

Cable cut up the street should be repaired sometime today; no point to go to backup.

The burst waterpipe will also be fixed shortly.

The good news is that the weekend's power failure was handled gracefully by the UPS backup system.

Happy Monday!

Markus,
We'd be happy to take some of the excess off your hands. We're over 10" below normal for the year, and it hasn't rained a drop in over 4 months.

While we're talking about the RIC website-- what I would give for vBulletin forums over there...

The last thing we'll be running here is PHP and MySQL. We wrote our own board specifically to get the functionality and security we require.

That's true. I suppose I didn't really consider that most companies don't run their forums (or forums, at all) from their *corporate* website.

Evidently the problem is a little more involved, as the site is still down.

My home computer is blocking access to the Ric web site ... I can access it from other computers ... I think I have to run regedit to get that computer ta accept cookies from the Ric web site ... I get error 403 and some error message about permissions and stuff like that ...

on the reverse side my ftp program which was very problematic on my old computer is working nicely on my new computer ...

If you're running Windows with IE, you can modify cookie settings by clicking on Tools, selecting Internet Options..., then clicking on the Privacy tab.

You'd think a company as big as RIC could fix a problem like this. Image

nope my problem is deeper than that ... I have to fix Windows registry ... or perhaps it is a McAffee problem ... I can access the site from other computers so it is not a problem ...

They are doing this because when it comes back not only will they be featuring the new 4005-AF, but a new 5 string, and a new 8 string. The downtime is just a clever marketing scheme to get the buz out.

Right. Like we're going to go down into the manhole ourselves and repair the cables that were blown up by some "electrical event".

Anyway, it is up and running as of this morning.
