That IS an amazing recording all things considered. Love the Rice Krispies jingle!

Yeah, when I realized it was cassette through gloves, then to 8-track, then digitized, I was very surprised at the quality.

All the time I was listening to the Rice Krispies jingle, I was smiling and mentally singing along.

We used to record a lot of commercial jingles for the Leo Burnett Ad Agency in Chicago for companies like Kelloggs, Heinz, AC Delco, etc. We didn't do the ad version of "Snap", but always had fun playing it anyway.

I was sitting here this afternoon playing my 370/12 through my J-Box, reverb pedal, noise-gate, bass head and out to my Korg deck with all the modeling stuff and was marveling at how delightfully "primitive" the old days were. There wasn't a single stomp-box on the stage for this concert. I don't even remember using or even having reverb or anything other than just some tone knobs on the PA amp. I had my Acoustic 140 bass head, one 18" Sunn folded-horn cab and my old fretless Gibson for this one. One guitarist had a Twin Reverb and a Tele and the other a Super Reverb and a Strat for when we were doing electric stuff and we had a grand piano and a bunch of Martins. I had a 100' long coil-cord for my bass so that I could play during the afternoon sound check from out in the middle of the seats and set all the sound levels. Things have changed a bit these days.

Here are a couple more tunes. I'm trying to get them all dubbed-off before the free demo runs out on the program I'm using to edit them. Somebody dubbed-in one of our real Kelloggs commercials between the two songs. It's a 5-second spot that ran for a while on "In The News" - the Saturday morning kids' program.

I will probably be doing my solo ska thing at Grossman's Tavern in Toronto on May 30th.

Here's my band doing (What's so Funny 'Bout) Peace Love and Understanding last January. I 'sing' this one.

Wow, this is a thread that goes WAY back...

if anyone is going to the NASCAR Race this weekend at Michigan International Speedway, they might catch my band, Shakedown, playing there Friday and Saturday nights for all the campers. It's one of our favorite weekends of the year and we really blow it all out for that show.

If you just wanna hear some of my bass playing, check out our Myspace site at http://www.myspace.com/shakedowndetroit
