Re: 4003 Amber Fireglo
That is one fine ambered FG, Tony! The blend is especially nice, because it's gradual.
A keeper, IMO!

Thanks Paul, my feelings exactly. THIS is how I love to see them blended, like the early Monty Browns.jingle_jangle wrote:That is one fine ambered FG, Tony! The blend is especially nice, because it's gradual.

After waiting almost 2 years for this one, she is staying put. It has a sweet neck to boot!
Thank you too Kevin, worth EVERY MINUTE of the wait.
Dane, the knobs just arrived today!

I would be good with that too.aceonbass wrote:I think these 4003AFG's would look perfect with vintage TRC's, pickguards and knobs.

Re: 4003 Amber Fireglo
Wow, thanks for all the pics!! Mine should be shipped today so, I probably won't get it until Monday. Although it is only from Wisconsin to North Dakota. We'll see.
Re: 4003 Amber Fireglo
It would look killer with a CS-style pickguard (clear Plexiglas with aged white painted back).aceonbass wrote:I think these 4003AFG's would look perfect with vintage TRC's, pickguards and knobs.

Ilan, I was thinking the same thing. I saw that aged white is offered at Pickguardian. I'd love to see a side by side comparison with regular white.

Nice!
Re: 4003 Amber Fireglo
That headstock looks like the vintage style headstock, which leads me to believe it's also got the slimmer profile neck too. One thing about vintage style pickguards, the white backed clear plexi tends to crack very easily. If you go vintage, get the white plexi.

Re: 4003 Amber Fireglo
Dane, the reason that white-backed clear plexi might tend to crack, is if the person making and painting the guards used extrusion-grade acrylic. It's not stress-relieved. Cast acrylic (higher-priced) is and does not develop microscopic cracks when cut, sanded or drilled. It won't react badly to the solvents in paints, either. Solvents attack acrylic on a molecular level and can cause stress-relief cracks in the lower grade product.aceonbass wrote:That headstock looks like the vintage style headstock, which leads me to believe it's also got the slimmer profile neck too. I paint lots of guards, both gold and white (about 950 in the past 12 months), and never have cracking problems, because of the use of cast acrylic for the raw parts.

Paul, I take it that this applies to the 75 Anniversary RIC guards too as well as other stock back painted RIC guards?

Re: 4003 Amber Fireglo
I really wanted an amber fireglo until I saw the pictures of them ... the yellow binding and the yellow inlays looks really bad to me ... but I bet a 4004cii amberfireglo would look great ...
