Yep. 850 out of those 950 were 75th guards...aceonbass wrote:Paul, I take it that this applies to the 75 Anniversary RIC guards too as well as other stock back painted RIC guards?

Re: 4003 Amber Fireglo
Wait a minute, the math does not add up. There were only 300 guitars made, of which 75 basses just have one pickguard each, 660DCM have one each, 360 and 330 have.... hey Paul, 850 75th pickguards means you made way more 75th guards than it is possible to fit onto all the 75th guitars that RIC ever sold.
So, dear friend, care to share your Spare Guards box with your friends?
More likely of course, sports fans, is that Paul is including the TRCs as "pickguards" too, natch
Umm, does that math add up any better though?

The 660, 360, and 330 have two guards each. And, yes, I included TRCs and a few spares I made, too.
Re: 4003 Amber Fireglo
Yep, I went and looked at my two 660s, the DCM and a 12-string normal one, and they do indeed have two guards each. It was the TRCs that made the difference in the count (almost!
)
So what was all that about spares, again ?

Re: 4003 Amber Fireglo
Spares all went to RIC, for reasons that should be obvious.
The math: 225 X 3=675; 75 X 2=150; total= 825. Plus spares plus other (non-75th) guards made for myself and customers. Hence the odd total.

No problem! That is exactly where I thought they were

Re: 4003 Amber Fireglo
I just ordered a 4003 AFG from MIke Parks at The Rickenbacker Page. I won't have it shipped until the Christmas shipping frenzy is over. Early January is my plan. According to MIke: Slimmer neck, Walnut wings, push pull tone circuit. I'm hoping he sends me some pics soon.
My first bass since high school (don't ask how long ago that was) and I can hardly wait to get my hands on her. Now somebody tell me did I buy a Four Double O three or a Four thousand three?

Re: 4003 Amber Fireglo
You bought a 4003. Does that help?
Re: 4003 Amber Fireglo
Dan, it is "a damn fine bass" you bought. An you have a LOT more patience than I would have. I really understand why, but I'd probably make a 3 day weekend of it and go pick it up.
You're closer than I am!

I like just three syllables, so how about "4K3"? [four-kay-three]janglerocker wrote:My first bass since high school (don't ask how long ago that was) and I can hardly wait to get my hands on her. Now somebody tell me did I buy a Four Double O three or a Four thousand three?

Re: 4003 Amber Fireglo
She's not here yet but Mike Parks was kind enough to forward a few pics. Now I'm really going to have trouble waiting until after the holidays to have it shipped.

Re: 4003 Amber Fireglo
Dan, just remember during the wait that it will look better in hand than in that picture. The bursts never photograph as well as they appear in person.
Very nice, BTW!

Dan,
Very Nice!
Congratulations!
I purchased my 4003FL AFG from Mike Parks.
John is correct, it looks MUCH better in person than they do on film.
ENJOY!

Re: 4003 Amber Fireglo
I wonder why everyone keep saying that. I've never heard it said about Fender sunbursts or Gibson cherry bursts or Sadowsky caramel bursts. I've seen Ric Fireglo's that look exactly like the pictures. Just don't use the camera flash. The bursts never photograph as well as they appear in person
