The one getting most of my attention lately though is the 2030 Glen Frey I picked up in Amsterdam a couple months back. I wish I had pics... Nice comfortable contoured body, nice 80's-4003-like neck, 4001/4003 string-spacing (if you adjust the bridge right), black hardware, JetGlo with Blackstar-like microdot fretboard, Silver back-painted pickguard and TRC, and those chunky-sounding (yet noiseless) RIC humbuckers. Very cool bass. Not very flashy though. No checkers or sparklies. I wonder how many were made

Hey. Its gone from the dirkwitte website.

It was there for a long time though. Must be even more seldom than a 4005 I guess.
Yep, that was the one, Bert! When I bought it, Barry Witte (Where have I heard that name before?!

) told me that they had ordered 7 or 8 of them when they were made available in 1992 and that this was the last one that they had left. So that poor bass hung around the shop unsold for 15 years! I guess the demand for 2030 GF basses in Amsterdam isn't very strong! Its a great bass though. The thing was all dusty, dull and covered with fingerprints. But with new strings, a little Scratch-X and Zymol, and a good set-up, the bass looks new and plays and sounds incredible. Its a keeper for sure! Barry also let me know that he hasn't been able to get any new basses from RIC in 2 or 3 years. My 2030GF was the only Rick bass they had in stock. They're an authorized RIC dealer, but can't get any product. That's sad, because Dirk Witte is a great shop. They were honest, knowledgeable, bilingual, and easy to deal with. My local dealer the CME in contrast always has a few new Rick basses in stock, but they steal from their customers every chance they get.
40-90 Jeff? That sounds like a big change from my 45-105 preference. Maybe I'll give 'em a try though. Thanks.
