I was just glad to see the left handed option still listed even though there's a temporary hold on orders.

I just got an email from Musician's Fiend saying that you can get an extra 15% off any single item ordered by phone in the next 72 hours and they haven't changed their list prices yet, so I might try to grab a 650D.I believe that should make them like $765 for a new one. Also, it didn't say anything about it having to be in-stock product.

Well, at least if they say it is just on hianus, then eventually we'll see it again. Acoustics are different - they are still being produced, just by an Extreme Artisan instead of a Factory. I have two on order myself!jdogric12aolcom wrote:4003FL, it says, is on hiatus, while others are discontinued. But then again, the acoustics are on hiatus too, right?

I just freaked out when I didn't see it on the new price list. JH just pointed out (I read his post on the company forum before the one here) that it is on "hiatus", and not discontinued.
I just LOVE my new 4003FL, the new neck profile & VTC makes this a KILLER bass. It is an amazing instrument and I keep finding new sounds this baby can put out. I was planning on ordering another when the new COY becomes available. I've been resisting a BBT 4003FL still in a dealers stock because I'm still waiting on my 4004Cii BBT. BUT, IF they were going the way of the 4005.....

Also, consider that RIC is actually planning ahead somewhat, because instruments ordered at these MSRPs won't seen production until the backlog is dealt with, and a crystal ball would be the only way to tell where material prices will be in 1-2 years' time.

There ya go, Steve! Nothing like knowing you've got a new Ric on its way to you to make you feel better! And now you've got one more to add to your gig rotation!steverok wrote:A Ric is getting into the price range of a Les Paul or a Gibson acoustic or a flagship Martin or Taylor model. I say they deserve to be. As a result, I just ordered one, before they go up. Anyone else ? Hell, I've had a rough year and a terrible week, this is gonna turn out good !
So what did you order????

The 650 oil finishes really gummed up the works in our paint dept. They are a lot of work to get right in several phases of production now that I think about it.
Wood, paint, chrome, plastic, whatever, inflation combined with the law of supply and demand (unfortunately) led us down this path.

I'm not saying until I get it. All I should say is, it could only make me happier, but I will add that it is merely your basic, off-the-shelf, killer-***, sweet Ric guitar. I have simple tastes and all I want is a few perfect Ric's that inspire me as a maturing musician - I'll know next week.melibreits wrote:There ya go, Steve! Ben,
I guess I'm in the minority (not that I'm a wealthy man) but the higher prices aren't freaking me out.
If those higher prices enables RIC to keep the machines buzzing, with the same high quality we've all come to know and love, it's a necessary evil.
It is rare these days to actually "get what you pay for", even rarer to get MORE than what you pay for....you guys keep delivering the best bang for your buck in the industry.
I'd much rather hear "we had to raise prices due to ....." instead of..... "we had to lay off workers so the back log is 5 years, or... we'll be using lower quality materials to save some expenses, or even.....demand forces us to move production to some distant, far away land....." I'll take the increase, just please keep everything else as is, thank you very much.

I am completely in agreement that the new price list reflects what these instruments are worth in today's market. Of course I haven't seen any sell at actual Rick retail price list prices ever.......that said I am REALLY glad I bought my 350V63 and 4003 when I did.

I could foresee some of these changes coming. This now gives me two discontinued models - The 650S and the 325V59.

Tony, I saw the USED prices giong up first (maybe also due to the RRF and the increased collectors numbersajish4 wrote:Wow,
The price increase is understandable, which probably means the USED prices are going to climb as well.

I don't think RIC's price increase is a response to the used market. It's a response to increased costs of materials and labor, plain and simple.
There was a while there when there were no price increases...about time things caught up with the times.
