Jeff-

I'm crass-what did you do with that gold hardware?

Beautiful bass I might add!

At this point I'm thinking of hanging onto the gold hardware in case I decide to restore it to original. Highly unlikely though. Once I have all the chrome in place I may sell the gold hardware, stay tuned.

Does anybody want to swap a white with black letters TRC for a black with gold letters TRC along with the appropriate mounting screws? In fact I'd swap the knurled knobs and the gold nut for mounting the selector switch.

Jeffrey, I'd like to see how she looks with the toasters. Can you post a pic? More importantly! How does she sound?

Cheers

I don't have a digital camera, the pics I posted were taken by a friend who came up from Texas a while ago, but I plan on getting one soon.

Soundwise Claudia sounds great, very Chris Squireish when played with a pick, and that is with TI flats. It can even get kind of Jacoish using the bridge pickup by itself and rolling back the tone control some. Overall I think it is pretty versatile sounding.

So you like the toasters better than the HB's

Jeffery, that flame looks really nice.

Has anyone seen the one on Ed Roman's site? This one is just too plain: http://www.edromanguitars.com/avail/bass/rickenbacker/4004cNat.jpg

I'd love to see on of those 4004CII's mapleglo with black hardware instead of Gold ...

It would be an easy mod to do ... new tuners, new knobs, new bridge, new pickup surrounds ...

I've been thinking about that Jeff. The question is - can you get the replacement parts. I'd do it to mine as long is it doesn't require any mods to the bass itself - new hole placement etc.

Getting the black tuners is easy ... getting a good black bridge that is similar to the one on there is easy ... getting black knobs is easy ... they may be slightly different in shape and size ... the hard part is getting black pickup surrounds ... you may have to use chrome ones ...

I think the black trim on a 4004CII mapleglo would be strikingly good looking ...

here's the one Ed Roman has ... looks sorta like solid maple and no walnut ...

The HB-1s sound good but a little too dark for my tastes. The toasters make it sound more like a Rickenbacker, but of course I have to live with single coil hum; definitely worth it though.

The Ed roman guitar still beats most other manufacturer's offerings in terms of beauty! Are we snobbish or what!

I still prefer the gold hardware and wish it was on the pickup as well on the 5 String version.
My humble opinion.
