Yes I tried it on 80s high gains and it destroys the pickupaceonbass wrote:Remember that only '90 up high gains can be unbuttoned. Also, be sure to use the pickup with the wider spacing between the end poles in the bridge position.

Think I'll send some 82 guitar high gains to ebay . Some things on this forum are too serious to joke about.......no , the V63 is not really being routed for P bass pickups

Be sure to free hand it with a Dremel. You can do that!
Re: More "clank" !
I think best results could be had with a coal chissel and a five pound sledge hammer.

Re: More "clank" !
Dane, what is the effect of using two bridge pickups versus one bridge and one neck? I'm now leaning this route rather than route the bass or destroy the pickups.aceonbass wrote:Bruce, if ya wanna put single coils in your 4004, get a pair of new BRIDGE high gains for a guitar.
Re: More "clank" !
Bruce, the bridge pickups for guitar have a slightly wider spacing between the two end poles than the neck pickups. With the wider spacing of the 4004, you'd want the pickups with the biggest spread, especially with a 4-2-5 conversion.

Re: More "clank" !
Got it. Not so much a sonic issue as it is space.
