Date this Bass
I have the bass stripped for it's bikini waxing. Let's have some fun. What year is it?

1974
The question is, does she like Thai or Italian?

'73. Mexican, I think.
Re: Date this Bass
Early '75? It has Grovers, skunk stripe, 1" spacing, deep cresting wave.

Re: Date this Bass
I'm gonna say early 80's. Wavy Grovers made their way onto a few 4001's then. I think this is one of them.
The 1 inch spacing and the neck pickup wire channel not being forstner cut are my clues.

I don't know if I would date it, but I would certainly take it out for a few drinks and get to know it better.
Re: Date this Bass
It is not a '75. The neck pickup route is all wrong for that. The truss rod spacing puts it at the earliest a late '76. I would guess '77 to '80. That range is nearly indistinguishable.

'75s can take either 1/2" or 1" guards.
Re: Date this Bass
Yup - I was also trying to account for the Grovers, forgetting there were stragglers into the early 80s.
