Scott,
Try this guy for sure. [email protected] He has made pickguards for me and has the correct 1/8" plexiglass material for Ricks. He does great work is honest and affordable. You may tell him I sent you. He has patterns in stock but an exact tracing of yours (outside and screwholes minus the front pickup and 2 knobs) is the only way of getting it exact due to tolerances over the years.
No matter where you go - there you are.

The original guard is gone, the guard that was on it was a homemade job. I got with Tony Dudzik at pickguardian, and downloaded a template of a period 4001 guard. the screw holes align perfectly, so what I am going to do is have him make me a blank 4001 guard in black, with only the screw holes drilled. Then I'll calculate the location of the volume and tone holes and drill them myself..Thanks for all the info so far! I'll post pics as things progressImage

Scott, I can trace out one of my pickguards for the knob placement onto a piece of paper and send it to you, if you'd like.
Randy.

Beautiful! I have always loved the MG with black. If only it had all-black trim!

Cool!
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

Looks great! What kind of tuners did you end up using, it is kind of hard to see in the photo?

Still using the big ugly schallers. Hipshot ultralites are on the list though.

Sergio;
You are correct; I do guards as well[still, though not with any regularity due to a recent move and resettling].

Thanks everyone, sounds great. I really like the TI strings to whoever suggested them. Its easy to just solo the bridge PU on a 4001/4003, but there's something about the simplicity of this design that you have to experience. I just love it!!!! Everyone needs one.

I'd like to think I suggested the TIs, as I like them very much also!
