Hello and Thanks

Post by miltric »

Hello all. This is my second post, technically, but "feels like the first time," coming as it does after my full-blown affliction with MRAS (Multiple Rickenbacker Acquisition Syndrome). I bought my first Ric three years ago, a 330/6 MG, and have used it on two albums and dozens of live performances. But only recently did I come down with MRAS. (This just might, MIGHT, have something to do with my turning 40 this year.)

About six weeks ago, I bought a beautiful 330/12 JG. Then I bought a Vox AC-15. And then a forum member--thanks tmossman!--informed me that I have been living lo these past nine years just a short drive from Pick of the Ricks. A trip there last week and a follow-up visit to Chris's display at this past weekend's guitar show in Valley Forge, PA, yielded the most gorgeous-to-gaze-upon and most comfortable-to-perform-upon guitar I've ever owned, a 360/6 AFG. Allow me to put a plug in here for Pick of the Ricks: as many of you already know, that is one classy operation. Chris sets the guitars up as soon as he gets them and then tweaks them again before they leave with/for some happy customer, and judging by mine, he is a master. This guitar plays like butter. Chris is a great guy to chat with in the store, too.

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself more fully than before and say thanks to everyone on this forum, as I have learned so much about Rickenbacker guitars and associated matters during the last couple of months. This is where I started and will undoubtedly continue my Rickucation (sorry!).

Oh, and I know how hungry we are all for pictures. So, here you go. (By the way, rest assured that the "Made in America" sticker on the 360 is now gone :D )

Welcome (again) Mark,

Your new 360 AFG is a looker. I was drooling all over it at Valley Forge as well. I am glad you found Chris at POTR. It is rare to find a dealer (of any product) that provides his level of customer service. Now you have to pick out the next one, 360/12, 660, 660/12, 650......?

Yes indeed. That's easy (well, easy to decide, not necessarily so easy to execute): gotta have a 660/12.

I gigged with the AFG tonight in NYC. A near religious experience.

Mark......Welcome to the canteen. Very cool post, brah. Dig your growing collection of Rics and the fact that you're giggin' with 'em and using 'em on your albums --- as it should be, eh? Oh yeah, and with regards to POTR, everything you said about Chris Clayton is spot on. That man knows how to tweak Rickenbackers, probably the best I've experienced to date in terms of set-ups. Anyway, enjoy this thrill ride, man. I know I've learned a lot from the knowledgeable folks populating this landscape. Best regards.....Goofyfoot.
Play on, pick often, jam with any Rickenbacker, and prosper.

Hey Mark Congrats on the new 360AFG! I've purchased several guitars from POTR, and you will not find a better dealer than Chris - ANYWHERE! And if you're like most of us with RAS, this surely won't be your last Ric. WELCOME!
