Some players get all worked up because 330 models don't come with double binding. Some players get bothered because their favorite model comes with a 24 fret neck instead of 21 frets. Some would rather have a color that RIC chooses not to use. Some would pass over a perfectly beautifully set up Rick because it does or does not have the proper headstock profile, in their opinion. It seems like a waste of energy to get all in a lather over the little details over which a player has no control.

I ordered the 360/12 I wanted because of the sound. The color or the decorative appointments won't matter. I suppose I might have been just as happy with a jetglo if that was all that could be found for the money I wanted to pay. And I chose the 360 model over the 330 because of one delux option; the Ric-O-Sound jack. A guitar teacher once said to me after I was done ragging on the worn finish of his well used Martin D-28 "Jim, you don't play the finish!" He was right. You play the guitar for it's sound, and the music that sound inspires you to make.

I prefer to concentrate on the little things I can control, and let go of the things I can't. Certain options simply are not available on the 360, and may never be. Like it or not, that's the way it is. I'd rather have half a loaf of bread than none at all, if you take my meaning. And I feel quite fortunate that I discovered Rickenbacker guitars, warts and all. After all, it's that sound like no other guitar I've ever heard that turns me on.

Let's keep in mind the real important stuff here, guys.

Actually, I always thought the "C" stood for "circa," as in c 1958, c 1964, etc. It would make sense for one to make this assumption, since Rickenbacker produced different versions of various models at different times.

I think the beef people are having is the fact that bridges are not aligned with the neck, just the notches. Usually not a big deal, but some of them are (IMO) fairly terrible...
I'll find a pic later to show just how bad it can be. String notches in the bridge barely a millimeter away from the edge of the saddle. Seems pretty lazy to me.

Having said that, I think "one offs" are going on hiatus for a while.
