Some players get all worked up because 330 models don't come with double binding. Some players get bothered because their favorite model comes with a 24 fret neck instead of 21 frets. Some would rather have a color that RIC chooses not to use. Some would pass over a perfectly beautifully set up Rick because it does or does not have the proper headstock profile, in their opinion. It seems like a waste of energy to get all in a lather over the little details over which a player has no control.

I ordered the 360/12 I wanted because of the sound. The color or the decorative appointments won't matter. I suppose I might have been just as happy with a jetglo if that was all that could be found for the money I wanted to pay. And I chose the 360 model over the 330 because of one delux option; the Ric-O-Sound jack. A guitar teacher once said to me after I was done ragging on the worn finish of his well used Martin D-28 "Jim, you don't play the finish!" He was right. You play the guitar for it's sound, and the music that sound inspires you to make.

I prefer to concentrate on the little things I can control, and let go of the things I can't. Certain options simply are not available on the 360, and may never be. Like it or not, that's the way it is. I'd rather have half a loaf of bread than none at all, if you take my meaning. And I feel quite fortunate that I discovered Rickenbacker guitars, warts and all. After all, it's that sound like no other guitar I've ever heard that turns me on.

Let's keep in mind the real important stuff here, guys.

OK, I'm done. I think I feel better. I'll resume taking my meds now.

Good post, Jim. I bought my 330 because I loved the way it felt in my hands.

Too much opining.........not enough playing goin' over "there."

Play on, pick often, jam with Toast(ers)®, and prosper.....G-foot.

Actually, I always thought the "C" stood for "circa," as in c 1958, c 1964, etc. It would make sense for one to make this assumption, since Rickenbacker produced different versions of various models at different times.

In the face of dissension brilliance is known to leap to the fore.

What terrific comments made here while trying to put things in perspective.

Wooly, thanks for your wise words with regard to our health. How fortunate we are when the trivial can take center stage.

Jimk, in a world where control is often a pipe dream your reminder that the glass is half full is an elixir to quench all thirsts.

Goofyfoot, I embrace your "animal" instinct to have fun. You have snared a wonderful philosophy here.

Some actually think we talk about guitars here.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

seems logical, and it was one of my first guesses too, but JH said it was not it.

He's probably just messing with us.

Now that you mention 4/1 I do remember!

8008AF was a Nikon camera from the late '80s.

I think the beef people are having is the fact that bridges are not aligned with the neck, just the notches. Usually not a big deal, but some of them are (IMO) fairly terrible...
I'll find a pic later to show just how bad it can be. String notches in the bridge barely a millimeter away from the edge of the saddle. Seems pretty lazy to me.

Looks ok to me, but I may be biased.

Having said that, I think "one offs" are going on hiatus for a while.

Damon specifically mentioned the tailpiece. See page 4.
