That's correct but only part of the three part answer I was looking for Matthew! So who was the critic and what was his relationship to Pete if any?

The critic was Nik Cohn. I believe they were friends, and that Pete was aware of Cohn's love for pinball, which supposedly influenced the pinball sub-theme in Tommy. I understand Cohn is a long-time friend, but I'm not aware of any familial ties.

Correct: Nik Cohn is a British author. He wrote numerous books on rock and pop and wrote the story that gave rise to Saturday Night Fever as well as his classic history of pop music Awopbopaloobop Alopbamboom which he wrote when he was 22 in the late 60's. He was also a friend of Pete's. Nik did not think much of "Tommy" until Pete suggested that the central character became a Bally table king (pinball champion) and that he would write a song that introduced him as such. Pinball Wizard was added and the rest is history.

These have all been good a tough questions. To counter that:

The Beatles and T-Rex share something in common, and it's not Ringo. what might it be?

No one seems to know this bit of trivia about SRV.

In 1991, Texas governor Ann Richards proclaimed October 3, (Stevie Ray Vaughan's birthday), to be Stevie Ray Vaughan Day. The city.........Austin Texas.

Could it be this?

After the release of Electric Warrior much like The Beatles were voted the top band, the New Musical Express voted T.Rex as the world's number 1 band.

I'm sure that's true, but it is more in depth than the answer I am looking for!
