I'm sure there are millions who disagree with you Bob..... me included!

So tell us what the non-bland play to make the non-bland music for the non-bland people!
There are Howard, and Fender loves each and every one of them. :)

It's probably a bit unfair of me to solely put the blame on the guitar itself, but it just seems that most of the music I seriously dislike is played by people on strats. Nah, forget that. It's just a ****, over rated and over priced guitar that I hate. :lol:

But, It's not always what you play, it's how you play it, and it seems to me that every other strat player must get gurning lessons for when they're laying down yet another boring solo, maaaan.

When I was at the record company, and we'd go and see these bands that if we were unlucky would have someone playing lead solos all night on a strat. Invariably they'd have that 'look' on their face as they were playing. We used to call 'em 'Blander StratoGurners'.
Then we'd leave. :)

BTW. The lead guitarist in my band plays a vintage strat as well as a Les Paul and a 330/12. If it wasn't for the 330/12 he'd be a gonner! :lol:

When I look at that black strat, and my all black Ric 360, it's like comparing a dog turd to a diamond.

I'll leave it to you good folks to decide which is which. :)

I'm with Paul, kinda pricey, and I also noticed the two DGs were 1 and 2 of 95 Strat models....

I don't think I'd call Jimi Hendrix, SRV, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Dick Dale, David Gilmour, Mark Knopfler, etc, etc, etc bland...
Hendrix = God like.
Harrison = Well, let's just blame it on the drugs. :lol:
SRV = Bland.
Clapton = Blander.
Dale = ZZZzzz.
Gilmour = ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz.
Knopfler = Yawn......

Apart from the top two, it's all elevator music, innit?
:twisted:
This has got to be one of the lamest posts I've read in a while. So does one have to play fast with a lot of distortion or what? SRV was a monster. He was a giant barrel of riffs, able to play for 10+ without repeating himself. Gilmour brings tears to my eyes. He can play one note and bring out nothing but emotion. Besides, when you hum a song do you hum the guitar solo? Even people who aren't musicians hum David's solos.
Clapton I'm not a fan of but I respect him for doing what most didn't. Harrision was never amazing to me. Only guys that were amazing players in that band were Ringo (a human metronome) and Macca.
Dick Dale is a monster. And Knopfler? Fingerstyle man. Nobody really bothers playing a guitar like that anymore.

Now that I think about it, who DIDN'T play a Strat???

The Beatles would have all played Strats had they been given the chance, and then we wouldn't have a forum... :lol:

BTW Peter.
I don't think I've ever witnessed anyone drinking so much guinness in such a short period of time as you did on Friday night. I had more fun watching you, than the bands, and there wasn't even a strat in the building! :lol:

The highlight of the night was watching your good lady 'escort' you to your motor vehicle as you staggered from side to side. I hope you weren't driving, for her sake! :lol:

Marvellous.

Can I also say that you and Malcolm playing "Chocolate Salty Balls" on Prime time radio was the work of genius!

I'm still laughing about it 2 days later.

I dedicated it to Joey Vas(ectomy)co. We expected a bollocking from the station manager but I think he had taken his medication and was asleep at his desk and missed it! :D
