Good eyes Owen, I missed the two extra screws.

That black on MG sure looks nice, especially in a 4000 configuration.

Scott's sure is a beauty.

I'm leaning toward the Rickenfaker opinion on the E-Bay one.

Or . . . consider this one. It's for sale. It's a 2002 MG BT 4003 in mint condition, never gigged.

I suppose I should put it on the Ricks for Sale forum . . .ImageImage

Man you guys are too quick for me! I was just headed over here from the bay, to post about that mapleglo 4003 with the black pickguard, and I see you've already found it. I thought it should have a split pickguard if its a 4003 from 80, shouldn't it? And that looks like an Ibanez board....

Yes, it should.
I don't think this one 4003 is a fake, though, but no doubt that one piece pickguard is not original to it. And to be a 4001 it should sport a 'skunk' stripe.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

Also note the pickup cover is incorrectly mounted. The top looks nice, but I'm not as fond of the chunkier body from this period.

"Look at how the bridge pickup cover is mounted! We've seen this kind of thing before. Why do poeple do this?"

LOL... I've had it mounted the same way on my first Ric until I realized the correct way. The reason, probably, is that pickup covers on Fenders are mounted like this.

I think it is a genuine early 80's 4003 completely refinished and a new pickguard ...
