The number of bottles at South Coast Plaza probably exceeds the population of Orange County. Did you try the stores there? Alternatively, a good nail salon has every color you could imagine.

Sally's. I looked there and several other places already!

I'll send her to a nail salon. I think she was going soon anyway.

Paul, thanks for your comments on how to improve a chip.

I especially like the detailed process of assessing the situation carefully before rushing into action, understanding the existing dynamics and then proceeding carefully and patiently so that your efforts do not have to be redone.

This technique served me well in repairing my Casino.

No, but we did take it to Sally's and a couple of other stores.

For you single guys, this is a great way to meet women. I'm not kidding! They wonder what you are doing with a guitar in the nail polish section. When you tell them what you are doing, the next thing you know, they are helping you pick colors.

Joey, the others may scoff and tease, but I think you are right. When I went to get black polish for my BT tailpiece, I got a lot of help. You single guys, this works!

No, but I have had some store managers tell me to leave the case to the side. I guess to prevent me from tossing some nail polish bottles into the case. You know I look that that sort of guy!

This only works for me if I also have a cute dog AND a baby in tow.

In fact, it's so much effort that I've given up and just spend my time avoiding cosmetics departments.

Uh, she only knows I bought black nail polish. I didn't go into too many details of the counter help... Besides, I was more than old enough to be her father, and if her mom had her when she was really young, I'm old enough to be her grandfather. But for a younger guy, take your bass with you!

Now that I have some spare time to do this, I've been mixing nail polishes over and over again!!
I've mixed red with yellow, orange and black.
I really thought I had the color perfect on a wooden coffee stirrer after it was dry.

After applying some of the mixture and then lightly sanding inside the chip with wet 1500 grit sandpaper on the tip of that football pencil cap, it looks like this. The color match does look better to see it in person than it does in picture. I'm not sure if I will sand it out and start over again or just go ahead and top it with clear nail polish.

Keep filling it with more drops until it's filled over the top level when the lacquer is hard. Then use a hard small block and wet sand it down until it's absolutely level with the surrounding surface. Then rubbing compound to restore the gloss, Scratch-X, and finally Zymol.

Probably won't be a perfect match, but should be pretty good.
