4003FL

Post by targ »

Is it normal for a FL bass to be priced higher or lower than a fretted bass?

In other words, hypothetically speaking, would a 4003FL be more or less than say a normal 4003 priced at say...$1500 as a nice rounded figure?

Should be the same, but trends in retail indicate otherwise.

Before the big price increases of late, I hit a store in St. Louis once, and they had a 4003FL for $2300. Don't know how they justified that one... at all.

Since the 4003FL is currently not being made, that might tend to drive prices up a bit.
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

So, hypothetically speaking, a new 4003FL for $1500 is a good deal right?

It's not only a good deal, it's below the price of a new 4003. A new 4003 goes for $1900 these days.

From the Ric price list, 4003 RRP = $2159, So you'd be getting a 30% discount. Not too shabby in my books.

In the current market, you may find a better deal if you try really hard, but the additional saving won't be huge!

So, tell where it is so we can try to steal it for that price.

So, you noticed a lack of information?

Still trying to justify it in my mind...

A fretless is less coveted by most, and nearly always should be lower than a fretted bass.
